This non-destructive testing device measures the thickness of ultrasonic-conducting materials and can discriminate coatings on metallic substrates. In through-coating mode, it measures the substrate thickness of coated workpieces without having to remove the coating. It is commonly used in nautical and maritime maintenance (such as bulkheads and tanks) and for pressurized containers (like fire extinguishers, gas tanks, and industrial boilers). It’s compliant with the PED directive and D.M. 11/04/11.
Webster hardness testers are ideal for measuring the hardness of soft steels, aluminum, brass, and copper, especially when these materials have very thin thicknesses. The measured hardness values can be converted to standard scales like Vickers, Rockwell, and Brinell.
The SABA934P portable hardness tester offers quick and efficient testing of aluminum, aluminum alloys, and fiberglass-reinforced plastics. It is particularly effective for measuring the hardness of thin materials. Designed for single-hand operation, simply apply pressure to the instrument, and the tip penetrates the material, displaying the hardness value directly on the screen. This digital version eliminates the need for conversions by displaying the measurement directly in the selected hardness scale.
The Pocket Portable Surface Roughness Tester is a robust, compact device designed for precise and dependable measurements on horizontal, vertical, and inclined surfaces. Its built-in probe is safeguarded by a sliding cover. This gauge features a clear and intuitive display, an easy-to-use interface, and versatile functionality, making it exceptionally suitable for on-site measurements.
The color cabinet is an instrument employed for the visual evaluation of color in constant and ideal conditions under several light sources.
These instruments are supplied with different illuminants and the LCD screen shows each lighting period of use. The light-gray, nonreflective interior ensures that no light is reflected from the surface during color testing, so what the operator observes with color cabinet is as natural as the view of the product in natural outdoor lighting conditions.
The anti-reflective surface has a certain degree of roughness, which acts not only as an element of light absorption when the light is on, but also as a resistance to scratching. The small size make it convenient to use both for laboratory and in production line.

This instrument revolutionizes in-line quality controls, allowing for the direct verification of the hardness of machinery components without disassembling them, especially when the witness mark must be imperceptible.
The UCI durometer is the optimal choice for testing the hardness of hardened surface layers and for particularly thin samples. Moreover, it excels in measurements on small surfaces, such as in the case of gears.
Instruments employed to evaluate hardness through indentation tests. Measures are performed by applying a fixed load for a known time on a indenter in contact with the sample.
The shape, the size, the material and the mass of the indenter determine the hardness scale read by the instrument.
Bench hardness testers are recommended for metrological laboratories and every application which requires maximum accuracy and repeatability.
This model is multiscale type, with built-in microscope and load application by motorized and time-controlled mechanism.
It’s used to perform salt spray corrosion tests. The sample must be prepared with specific marks indicated by the reference standard.
Manual engraving may not be uniform and repeatable on each sample and it can affect the test negatively causing it to be time-consuming and expensive. Instead, the use of an automatic model allows one to obtain uniform, consistent scribe marks while saving time.
Furthermore, thanks to the rotating tip, the marks will be flawless along the edges.
The main purpose of an automatic cross hatch tester is to assess the secure anchoring of the different paint layers to the substrate and, in the case of multiple layers, to verify the adhesion between the various coatings.
In contrast to a manual tool, the automatic cross hatch tester ensures excellent test repeatability with consistent speed and force, eliminating human errors that often lead to ineffective testing.
By utilizing the automatic cross hatch tester, a uniform and consistent cutting pattern can be achieved. Therefore, it’s advisable to opt for this method whenever feasible.
Mar resistance tester operating is very similar to scratch resistance test, but this kind of test employs an arc-shaped stylus (loop-shaped or ring-shaped) to test the coating resistance.
The test is performed by moving the sample under the stylus which is mounted at 45°. The weight on the sample is increased until the coating is damaged.
The Tubular Impact Tester is suitable for conducting a wide range of impact tests and for evaluating many types of coatings, such as paint, varnish, water-based wood coatings, high viscosity plastic and laminated coatings. It can also be used to perform impact experiments in the construction industry as well as to verify the degree of impact force on various materials, such as plastic, resin, glass, steel, sheet metal, plywood, etc.
The testing methods can be either a pass/fail test, which involves a standard-weighted hammer falling from a determined height to see if the test result complies with the standards or not, or a grading test, which involves gradually increasing the height and/or the mass of the hammer to measure the minimum mass and/or height at which the coating layer cracks or breaks from the substrate.
Spectrophometers SAGT560 perform a full spectrographic analysis of the color covering the whole wavelength, while verifying the spectral curves and the metamerism. One of the important indicators for assessing the hardness of coatings is scratch resistance. The automatic scratch tester SAAST520/1 by SAMA Tools is capable of performing scratch tests.
The test involves a controlled scratch, performed through a tip on a selected area. A sample is fixed and moved slowly under the tip to scratch the surface of the coating. According to the test procedures, constant or variable loads can be applied to obtain different degrees of breakage, from a simple trace to the destruction of the layer.
This procedure is one of the commonly used methods for obtaining the limit loads related to the adhesive properties of the coatings.
SA564 – cylindrical mandrel tester checks the crack resistance of the coating, or the bending by detachment of painted or treated sheet metal with other coating materials. It therefore allows you to measure the elasticity of the coatings by folding the sample around the interchangeable cylinders.
Operation: place the chosen cylinder in the appropriate place, insert the sample and perform the bending. The test result is based on the following criteria: test passed / test not passed / identification of the breaking limit diameter of the coating.
The solvent rub resistance tester (MEK test) uses mainly methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) as a solvent.
The MEK method is applied to paints, enamels, and is widely used in the paint industry because it provides a quick estimate of wear degree without having to wait for the results of long-term exposure.
The test consists in rubbing a gauze soaked in methyl ethyl ketone on the surface, until a defect or film breakage occurs.
According to the standard, the type of gauze, the distance traveled, the frequency and the approximate pressure applied in the rubbing are specified.
